Acid Red 18 is applied via exhaust dyeing, winch, and continuous processes at a pH of 4.0-6.0 (acetic or sulfuric acid). It offers excellent migration and penetration, producing bright scarlet shades with good lightfastness (AATCC 4) and wash fastness on protein and polyamide fibers. It is frequently used in combination with other acid dyes for compound shades .
